Native Son #5, Bernard Doyle
Planted by Deanne & David Besnia in Leominster MA
(Worcester County) in Pierce Park.
This letterbox is extremely easy to find. To get to Pierce
Park take Merriam Avenue out of Leominster center. Head west until you
come to the second set of traffic lights (about a 5-minute drive). At the second
set of lights take a right onto Lindell Avenue (you will see a sign for Pierce
Park on the corner of Lindell and Merriam Avenues). Enter Pierce Park through
the cement columns on the left. Stop at the official Trustees of Reservations
sign and look for the tallest manmade structure in the park. Walk around the
structure and look for a flagstone at the base (hopefully somewhat concealed by
leaves). Lift the flagstone and find Native Son #5, Bernard Doyle, a
plastics pioneer and generous benefactor to the City of Leominster. There
is a small prize in the box for the first several people who find it.
